Help Save California's Bobcats From Traps
Currently it's legal for trappers to kill unlimited numbers of bobcats in California to sell in places like China and Russia on the commercial fur market.It's even legal to trap along the borders of national parks like Joshua Tree National Park.
Commercial trapping is not only inhumane, it harms the ecology of California's beautiful and ecologically important wild places.
California's bobcats are on the verge of gaining some much needed protections. Assembly Bill 1213, or the Bobcat Protection Act of 2013, passed the California Assembly at the end of May -- but now it must move through the Senate to become law this year.
A.B. 1213 would limit the commercial trapping of bobcats in California, includes an immediate prohibition on trapping of bobcats around Joshua Tree National Park and directs the California Fish and Game Commission to institute further protections for bobcats.
Please ask your state senator to vote yes on A.B. 1213, the Bobcat Protection Act.

Please vote yes on Assembly Bill 1213, the Bobcat Protection Act of 2013, which would limit commercial trapping of bobcats in California. It is wrong that hundreds of California's native bobcats are trapped and killed each year so that their skins can be sold on the international fur market. This practice harms the ecology of our wildlife and natural landscapes and it undermines the natural beauty that makes California such a special place to live and visit. California's native wildlife should not be exploited and harmed for personal commercial gain.

I strongly support A.B. 1213 by Assembly member Richard Bloom that limits the commercial trapping of California's bobcats. I urge you to vote yes on A.B. 1213 and to do everything you can to end bobcat trapping in our state.
