76% of stillbirths could be prevented: Become part of the answer

When a doctor gives the devastating news that they cannot hear your baby's heartbeat, you become numb. Just moments before you were happy, excited and imagining your baby's future. But in an instant, all you are left with is grief for the loss of your much longed for and loved child.

Although the number of stillbirth rates are falling in the world's 49 wealthiest nations, the UK's high infant mortality rate remains a national shame – Nine babies are stillborn in the UK every day.

Worse still, a 2015 survey showed that 76% of these stillbirths could have been avoided.

Vital medical research to help prevent stillbirths is suffering due to a lack of funding and that's why the Genesis Research Trust is committed to funding research into the causes of stillbirths and late miscarriage and identifying how they can be prevented.

But we need your help. Become part of the answer by signing this pledge and urging the UK Government to provide much needed extra funding, whilst also prioritising this area of healthcare – otherwise, more and more families will have to suffer through the very real and traumatic experience of unnecessary baby loss.
