Ensure Stricter Punishment for Animal Abuse & Cruelty

Rhode Island is faced with animal cruelty issues and a lawmaker wants to see tighter stricter laws and penalties that would curtail and eventually end the continual abuse on animals.  This move came after a poor dog had to be euthanized resulting from being emaciated.  Rep. William O’Brien has tried to get these tougher laws and penalties for several years without luck and we are hoping that with our support, animals can be saved throughout the state.

Representative O’Brien, in regards to animal cruelty, states that "stuff like this deserves to be treated as a felony. They deserve to go to jail. No one has a right to do that to a dog, or to any animal. And increased penalties work.” Currently, animal abuse, cruelty and neglect is only considered to be a misdemeanor, which is much too lenient for such crimes! Several such cases of animal cruelty have been outlined in the following article at http://www.turnto10.com/story/30001592/north-providence-man-whose-dog-starved-to-death-faces-charges.

Stricter laws and stiffer penalties need to be implemented that will be more effective in protecting animals.  The SPCA is also stepping forwarding with new legislation that will make these types of laws tougher! Our efforts are to support such a plan that could and would end animal cruelty.  You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition.  Let’s be a loud voice for those without a voice!

Rhode Island LegislatorsWe strongly urge more stringent laws against any type of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect, all treated as felonies with more severe penalties.  Someone needs to be a voice for the voiceless and protect them from any types of mistreatment.
