No Child Should Struggle in School Because They Can't Afford Glasses

Over 2 million children here in the U.S. have an undiagnosed or untreated vision problem that leaves them struggling to succeed in school. Janeen (girl on the right in photo), who just finished 7th grade at St. Ignatius School in NYC, is one of these children.
Born with a "lazy eye," Janeen never had 100% of her vision. She was told, incorrectly, that her lazy eye would fix itself as she got older, and that because her family couldn't afford prescription eyeglasses she would have to "make do." Janeen was left struggling in her lessons -- even science and English, her favorite subjects -- because she couldn't see what was on the blackboard.
Helen Keller was not able to see, but she had the vision to know no child like Janeen should have to struggle with treatable vision problems.
