Composting at Nantyr
This a petition to present to our schoolboard in favour of getting a composting system in Nantyr Shores Secondary School to reduce the amount of waste we put out. It would also set an example for our community and nearby schools to do the same. Adding a composting area at our school would be benefitial for our school, community and the environment. Lets make Nantyr a cleaner, greener school!
The Students at Nantyr Shores Secondary School believe that there is a problem not only at our schoolbut worldwide. In 2000 in Ontario the average person threw out .61 tons of garbage a year (cbcnews.ca) and it is only growing. Thats over 1340 pounds per person. To diminsh this number we need to take action, already in Simcoe County a composting "green" bin pick up has been put in place. Adding a similar composting program to our school would make it cleaner and more environmentally friendly. The students listed all agree and want you, the Simcoe County District School board to hear them out.
