Demolish the Glenwood Power Plant aka "Gates of Hell"
Following recent discoveries of violent Gang initiations and teenage rapes inside of the Glenwood Power Plant, abandoned since 1966, Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick, has proposed to designate this dilapidated eyesore as a Historical Landmark.
We the Citizens of Yonkers hereby condemn and renounce this action. It is an insult to our community to allow this center of destruction and mischief to remain standing in our community another moment. This abandoned power plant has been a dynamo, and source of chaos in our neighborhoods, and has proven to be breeding ground for gangs and criminal activity.
We want this building immediately demolished and then plans for redevelopment to be made to include space that will bless our children and thereby reverse the years of damage that have been done to our community youth by our neglect.
