We the undersigned are the voices for the children in this country who are perpetually preyed upon by sexual offenders. When a child sexual assault occurs, it terrorizes and traumatizes these innocent victims. The children suffering at the brutal hands of sex offenders are scarred for life physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We need your help to bring voice to the children who suffer heinous acts at the hands of vicious predators. We need YOUR help to make this Country a safer place in which they can grow into secure and healthy adults. We desperately need your help to keep the child sex offenders behind bars, at least until they face the judicial system for the crimes committed. And to ensure that yet another child will not be victimized and brutalized by their hands.
At this time Dangerousness Hearings may be requested by the prosecuting attorney's in each case to hold the defendant in pre-trial detention without bail. There is a high standard of proof required to show dangerousness, as there must be "clear and convincing proof" that releasing the defendant would be a substantial risk to the safety of the victim and/or the community. We adhere to the belief that all child sex offenders ARE dangerous, and must be held in detention until their trial is complete. As you may or may not know, it happens that when a prosecutor does request a Dangerousness Hearing, the requested hearing never takes place. THIS is a travesty.
Dangerousness Hearings must take place in every case of child sexual assault, and it MUST be a law for every satate. Time and time again these violent offenders are released only to repeat the offenses on the same or another child. Statistics have proven that these offenders have a tendency to escalate. Resulting in more severe brutalization, and sometimes death.
We MUST as a Country start to protect our children from these predators that choose not to be law abiding citizens, and all too often claim they "cannot help themselves." We MUST be the voice for the children who are unsafe in their daily lives.
