Boycott JC Penney

So, apparently the bad PR from last week's "I'm too pretty to do homework" tee shirt wasn't enough for J.C. Penney, because now comes this little gem from their website. This new shirt lists "My best subjects" as "Boys, Shopping, Music, Dancing." Seriously? We need to be encouraging 7 - 14 year old girls to claim their best subject as "boys" or "shopping?" Frankly, t's humiliating and insulting even to have to point out how sexist and retrograde this is.

But if you agree that fashion like this sends precisely the wrong message to young women, please sign this petition and send precisely the right message to J.C. Penney's CEO, Mike Ulman III and their Merchandising Senior Vice President, Lorraine Hitch: that their "humor" isn't cute or empowering and must stop, today.
