Freedom to use YOUR land in a reasonable and consistant method
We feel that with all the delvelopment that is currently going in the NW section of the city and county, it is foolish to think we can stop it cold. Common Sense will tell you, it is easier to redirect a creek than to stop it all together. That is where we come into play. A few years ago there was a rezoning that took place, we tried to stop that one but we had no other supporters, it passed and it set precident for our area. Now because of it, our area has been opened up and it is fair game to developers. So while we can't stop them, we are very willing to at least have influence over what they have to do to keep the neighborhood a friendly, attractive, and good place to live and recreate. So we back the rezoning from RS-9 (houses on 1/5 acre lots) to using 4 acres for wedding receptions and other group gatherings, while the other 2 1/2 acres remains undisturbed for wildlife to use. With this we know the area will be maintained in a very meticulous way, with lots of green trees, bushes, and flowering gardens.
A much better choice than apartments where folks rent and have NO vested interest in how they look or how they behave, not to mention THOSE developers would wnat to use EVERY INCH of land avail to them. Storage units where people of who knows what background will be given cart blanc to be there and case our houses for future visits when we are not home. The only option that could be better would be a church, but that is not likely at this time so we are not disappointed by the request for a reception hall. At least they would be very image concious.
We the undersigned feel it is better to work together to have guided development than to just say no to all development because it represents a change to what we are used to seeing. We will benefit from taking an active part HOW surrounding property is developed.
I do hope you can agree with the fact that mostly developers sit on the various boards and committees so most of the items that come before them will be looked at and voted on from that perspective. All we are trying to do is to have a greater influence over how land is developed. We can not and must not bury our heads in the sand with hopes it %u201Cjust goes away%u201D, it won%u2019t. By working with the developer and the committees we can have a much greater say in how some things are done, the honey over vinegar method will get us much farther than just being closed minded and refusing to budge on ANY issues.
Again, if you agree it is better to steer the car than get left behind altogether, then please let our zoning commission and fellow neighbors know this by your signature.
Thank you for taking the time to review our request.
Again, thank you.
