This has been an issue for so many years and continues to be an issue. Children are at risk. Vehicles parked in front of our houses are at risk. Pedestrians are at risk. What will it take? Two crashes in front of our house in the past 8 months isn't enough?

We have lived in Virginia Run for almost 10 years. The curve and stretch of road at Eagle Tavern Lane between McCambell Cluster and Beckford Way is an extremely unsafe roadway for pedestrians (especially children) to cross, ride a bike, catch a school bus, walk your dog, or even park your vehicle due to the ongoing problem of too many vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed and not adhering to the residential posted speed limit. This particular section of Eagle Tavern Lane has a blind and very dangerous curve that makes it treacherous for the children to cross the street when going and coming home from school. Vehicles traveling around the curve often cross over to the %u201Cwrong side of traffic%u201D (head-on to oncoming traffic) because they are traveling too fast which poses a threat not only to other drivers but pedestrians as well.
In the last 8 months my family car has been hit twice, the second time it was completely totaled, while parked in front of my house. The latest crash involved a vehicle going well over 60 MPH around this curve, resulting in a head-on collision with our parked car. This crash resulted in both vehicles being totaled and the passenger of the oncoming vehicle being sent to the emergency room with head injuries.
What will it take before VDOT takes the necessary action to help slow vehicles down around this curve on Eagle Tavern Lane? How many accidents need to be reported before this can be resolved; before someone is seriously injured or killed. VDOT is only interested in numbers. VDOT only RE-ACTS instead of being PROACTIVE. Our children%u2019s safety should be the number one priority. It is time for action NOW. I am requesting your immediate attention to this serious problem within our community.
