undersigned residents of Prince William County, VA, request that the Prince William Board of County Supervisors approve the formation of an Animal Advisory Committee.
Prince William County has no fewer than 80 citizen advisory boards on everything from aging to zoning but none on animal welfare. The county spends $1.3 million each year to house and care for 7,000 animals. 1/2 of all animals that enter the shelter system are euthanized, costing tax-payers $30,000 each year. The county has no low-cost spay/neuter clinics, no humane education offered in schools, no dog parks and no cruelty awareness campaigns.
