Please help stop a proposed mega hotel, condo's and other glitz that will totally ruin Catalina and what it represents. Eighty percent of Catilina is to stay open for the animals and wildlife' the build proposed will unbalance the entire island and not in a positive manner.
If the locals think that will bring more income, they are wrong. Presently there are condo's that have only taken from the landscape of the island and contributate to the sewer issues. It would be like bring Wal-Mart in, it will destroy all the smaller places and take away from the charm, quiet and seclusion that so many love on Catalina. The people who want to do this do not care about Catalina and the wildlife, only about money.
Sure it is slow right now the economy has hit everyone, just do not give up. Propose checking into getting green funding to update the sewage system on Catalina, which will tank with all the proposed building or is that a plus from the people who are proposing this. Here is a website
