I want to give credit to SneakingFerocity for the idea, but I agree that the 12th doctor should be Hugh Laurie.
Today's announcement of "House" ending, Hugh Laurie will be hanging up his M.D. With Matt Smith announcing his last season as well, could Laurie keep playing doctor?
I personally say yes. The title character of House carries all the main attributes of a Doctor: Cleverness, knowledge of rare, but important trivia, and a superiority complex. I love the whimsy nature of the Doctor, but I loved the gruffness of 9. I think Laurie could truly help bring some grit back into our beloved Time Lord.
Secondly, I want an older Doctor again. We had great fun with Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith, but the Doctor should look like he's seen the universe. Laurie's face alone brings weight to the frame. I believe Laurie brings with him a wealth of personal experiences that a younger actor simply hasn't lived yet.
I understand Hugh Laurie still isn't a ginger, but there is always 13th!
