Use technology to protect elderly.disabled and children.

This petition adresses the issue of elder abuse and the abuse of mentally or otherwise disabled children and adults in foster care and facilities for the elderly etc.

It seems that with all the modern technology available seniors, the disabled, and/or their families, should be able to request video monitoring in their rooms to watch, record and regulate their caretakers to be assured that they are being treated in a respectful and humane fashion.

These video recording systems could be connected to an pad/keyboard that the caretaker has to type their ID password into, at the entrance to the patients room before they can attend to the patient. They would also need to sign out on the keyboard/pad as they left the room which would automatically turn the camera back towards the door of the room and away from the patient for privacy reasons.

At all other times the camera would be pointed only at the door or entrance to the room to assure that caretakers entering and leaving the room at unauthorized times or in emergency situations were recorded.

We the undersigned agree with the sentiments of the author of this petition and would like to see more technology utilized to protect the elderly, mentally disabled and children in America from abuse and/or potentially abusive situations/people.

We would like to see private and public care facilities offer this video monitoring as an voluntary option for those under their care and for these video monitoring systems be regulated by outside uninvested, impartial bodies such as the state government or professionally degreed parties certified and authorized by the state or federal governmnet to monitor and regulate such video protection sytems.
