Save the Newport 'In the Nick of Time Clock'
The council is due to make a decision on the future of the Clock, one of those outcomes might be it being dismantled. We want the Clock to be reinstated, either in John Frost Square or an appropriate location.
Newport City Council need to know that as tax payers we have a right in which to tell them how they spend our money! In an ever more depressing economic climate, we recognise that public funds need to be spent appropriately but never has there been more need for something - anything, to bring some colour and creativity into our lives. We the undersigned are committed to the reinstating of the In the Nick of Time Clock.
We understand that you are due to make a decision in the near future in regards to what the next steps will be and that the costings for storage, dismantling and erecting will all need to be considered. But as you can see from the number of persons who have signed this petition, there are a very high number of people who wish to see the Clock put back on display.
There is very little in Newport that attracts or brings civic pride, but the Clock brought people to the city as well as bringing people together.
