Keep America's Families Together- Reform CPS VS. Abolish

We the undersigned urge you to concider the following information and impliment this into new regulations for CPS agencies.

Reform vs. Abolish

Some children really are abused by parents (though few) and they do need an agency to step in to help them.  That agency should be providing the child(ren) with services that help them to over come the emotional trauma from being abused, etc.  This agency should have the power to ensure that the child(ren) get to stay in a temporary safe home with relatives, until the parents have saught "rehabilitation", or found ways to cope and to function as a parent and properly care for a child. 

Yes we do have police that help prosecute child abusers, occasionally.  However, Police do not know how to care for children, they know how to deal with criminals- and not very kindly at that.  The government does not make a good parent as demonstrated by the poor statistics of foster children.  That is why they should stay with a relative.  Foster housing should be the last option, if the child has no relatives that are willing to take them in.  So long as there is a relative willing to take them in and care for them, that is where they belong regaurdless. 

Adoption should never ever, ever be a possibility, unless the parent volentarilly offers that thier child(ren) be adopted.  Even then, if a relative wishes to take this child in and care for them, that  should always be the person to adopt them, regaurdless of any factors- exept if that person has been charged with child molestation, abuse, or neglect, of course.

There needs to be a agency like this to help the children whjo really do need help.  Thier role needs to be that of an on-looker or over-seer as oposed to the Dictator.  The should be there to help and support families in ensuring that their kin are safe, loved,  and cared for.  The agencey should offer advise, and education for the adults, they should offer counceling and other services, to help the child(ren) and the relatives to form a well functioning system for the child and family to live a happy healthy life.

That by no means implies that they have a right to tell you how to live your life or demand that you do so as they want.  Example, you are Chritian, you believe in corpral punishment because of religous factors,  they cannot tell you that you do not have the right to punish your child as you see fit, they do have they right to tell you that swatting them hard enough to leave bruises and welts is not acceptable. They do have the right to suggest other forms to correct the childs behavior before resorting to that, and to teach you about their other options, and the benifits of such.  They cannot be dicriminatory for any reason, they are there to ensure that the adults have the skills they need to properly care for the child, and that the child is safe and emotionally well. 

As every one should know.  Family dynamics do not always allow for the most benifical curcumstances of children.  The agency needs only to be there to help inforce that the family alter dynamics temporarily to benifit the child.  See an example below:

Child, Ben, is being abused by mom, Jen.  Paternal grandma, Ira, is willing to care for Ben, until Jen is able.  Jen will not allow her child Ben, to live with grandma Ira for reason XYZ, which is an irrational reasoon.  The Agency in this situation would have legal athourity to allow Ben to live with grandma Ira, offer services to Jen so she can care for Ben allowing him to come back home, and allow Ben to see a councilor.

No foster parents unless no other relative is willing to take them.  No matter how long it takes for parent(s) to "rehabilitate", adoption is never an option unless they (the parent) proclaims that they indeed do not want the child(ren).  Agency is only there to assist they entire family to produce the best living situation for the child(ren), nothing more, nothing less.
