All children in our country should have a stable family, economic security, and educational and work opportunities, so that they may achieve their dreams and make this country stronger.
I am a NYS resident. I believe all children in our country should have a stable family, economic security, and educational and work opportunities, so that they may achieve their dreams and make this country stronger.
I support the DREAM Act because it secures the future for many children in the United States regardless of their immigration status. And I support comprehensive immigration reform that addresses the need of these children and their families by:
1) Giving children regardless of their immigration status access to federal/state/local educational grants and loans;
2) Providing young people who qualify for DREAM Act work permits, federal/state/local job training, and job opportunities;
3) Providing stable immigration status to all young people who qualify for DREAM Act;
4) Providing access to government benefits to poor people regardless of their immigration status;
5) Providing a pathway to permanent residency and citizenship to young people who qualify for DREAM Act;
6) Providing the same pathways for immediate family members (spouse, child, and parent) of young people who qualify for DREAM Act;
7) Making legal immigration fair by updating the national immigration quota system to promote family unification and to reflect the reality that many poor and low skilled workers and their families will migrate to the US for better economic opportunities; and
8) Signing and ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
