THE FORT GREENE SPORTS CENTER
A recreation center contributes to a person's physical, social and emotional development. Systematic evaluation showed that youth clubs and recreation centers make important contributions within several core areas, including: cultural enrichment, development of conflict resolution skills, developing leadership skills, resisting antisocial behaviors and developing citizenship. organized leisure services contribute significantly to the overall quality and enjoyment of community life. There is no place or sanctuary for our Fort Greene/Clinton Hill children to learn and play after school has ended. Our children and their families need and deserve a real, tangible location to meet and be nurtured. Recently, a longstanding Pre-K and child care center closed. The building stands in the very center of our community and is available for sale and is available for over $2.5 million. As the founder of the Fort Greene Soccer Club, I am asking you, my neighbor, to join this petition, so that we can take your voice and present it to our political, business and civic leadership, so that together, we can help open the doors to create the Fort Greene Sports Center.
We, the undersigned, feel that our children need services and programs that enhance the needs of our community. As our community grows, our children and their families need and deserve a real, tangible location to meet and be nurtured.
