A Salem, Missouri family is fighting in court to save their dog’s life. Almost a year ago, Phineas nipped a neighbor girl, causing bruising but not breaking the skin. Now the Salem Mayor has deemed the dog vicious and recommended he be destroyed.
As if taking the dog from his family for nine months wasn't bad enough, a Salem part-time firefighter told local KTVI news that the city had been keeping the dog in arguably cruel conditions in the fire department basement before moving him to another location.
On May 20th, Phineas was granted a stay of execution. The time to take action is now! Sign to ask the Mayor of Salem to drop this case and let Phineas go back to his family.
I am writing to ask you to drop the case against Phineas the yellow lab and allow him to return to his family immediately.
Phineas is a loving, gentle dog, but even gentle dogs get protective of their humans. A nip that causes bruising is cause for some increased training, maybe -- it shouldn't be enough to send a family dog to his death.
