Progressives in Hays County Pledging to Vote for Republican Bill Henry in 2022, but Never Again – Unless He Changes Parties!

A Republican extremist, Joe Pool, snuck onto the Democratic ticket in the Hays County race for District Judge.

Pool is running against Bill Henry, a moderate Republican who has earned the respect of local criminal-justice advocates for supporting the establishment of a Public Defender Office while publicly decrying the laziness & injustice of his Republican judge colleagues.

By contrast, Joe Pool has run unsuccessfully for the Texas Supreme Court three times as a Republican. According to his own candidate profile with IVoterGuide, Pool has personally donated to the Tea Party Express, as well as Local, County, and District Republican Organizations & the National Republican Congressional Committee. Asked whose philosophies most reflect his own, Pool responded Clarence Thomas among US Supreme Court members, and Ronald Reagan among U.S. presidents of the past half-century.

Pool – who, if elected, would be in a position to enforce Texas' new abortion law as district judge – has been extremely outspoken in his opposition to abortion rights.

Accordingly we, the undersigned progressives of Hays County, pledge to vote for Republican Bill Henry in 2022, as he is clearly the superior option of the two to helm our felony court, but we also vow to never again vote for Bill Henry, until he joins the Democratic Party.
