USFWS and EU Environment Commission: Put a PERMANENT ban on trophy hunting imports of lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, Nile Crocodiles, mountain zebras, cheetahs, baboons, hyenas, duikers, buffalo, antelope, argali sheep, and wild goats

Trophy hunting is a real threat driving the extinction of many endangered and threatened species. Hunters target the biggest animals and the strongest animals, the ones with the biggest tusks, manes, antlers or horns. Trophy hunting quotas are also completely unsustainable, killing hundreds of endangered and threatened animals every year. The hunters also receive awards for injuring animals using unethical ways such as with a bow and arrow. The nervous system and limbic system of the animals trophy hunters kill are very similar to our own, meaning that these animals feel the same pain as humans being shot with rifles and other weapons. The money from trophy hunting NEVER goes to conservation, with the hunting operators always running off with it. Local communities get absolutely nothing from trophy hunting, with only 3 or 5 percent of revenue ever going to the local communities. Also, most hunting concessions are completely or almost completely empty, with more than 70 percent of hunting concessions in Tanzania and more than 30 percent in Zambia. The claims in favor of trophy hunting are ludicrous. It has been claimed that killing rhinos saved them. However, in reality, the hunters drove the rhinos to extinction, and because they had no more rhinos left to kill, they farmed rhinos like livestock. The farming of rhinos for livestock was the real reason for the increase, as the hunters were trying to solve a problem that they themselves had created in the first place. Another bogus claim by trophy hunters is that Kenya's ban on hunting caused a decline in wildlife. However, in reality, the real causes for the decline were increasing human populations and corruption. Bottom line - hunters do not conserve wildlife or any animal on the planet.
