This Zoo Said It Will Feed Some of Their Animals to Others If It Has To

A zoo in Northern Germany has said that, since their income has decreased during the pandemic, they will sacrifice some of the animals in their care by feeding them to others if they have to. They've even decided, in advance, which animals would live and die, promising their 12 foot tall polar bear would be at the top of the food chain. But why in the world does this zoo even have to think this way?

Sign the petition to demand none of the animals are fed to the others.

Germany is one of the richest countries in the entire world. Certainly their government could provide emergency funding or ensure that the animals are rehomed to sanctuaries that have more resources. The idea that the zoo will just start feeding some animals to bigger ones is truly horrifying. The zoo has over 700 animals, some of which are endangered species. They've even apparently lined up who would die first, saying the deer and goat would be the first on the slaughter block. But none of these animals should die: every animal in their care deserves to live a full and long life.

One of the grossest parts of this story is that the zoo is actually only putting the polar bear (Vitus) at the top of their list because he is their greatest attraction. That's right: they are making decisions on which animals should live based on their ability to be exploited to make humans money.

There has to be another way. Please sign to demand the zoo not implement this horrifying plan to feed their animals to each other!
