Dear President Bush,
Marriage should not be defined as a union specifically between a man and a woman, but a union between two loving people who wish to share their lives with each other. Civil unions and marriages between homosexual parters should not be looked upon any differently than heterosexual marriages.
The choice to acknowledge same-sex unions should be something dealt with on a state level, much like the amount of time partners must live together before declaring civil union.
Marriage is a matter of the church, synagogue, temple, mosque, or wherever else a person chooses to express their faith. Please, remember to keep church and state separate, and not to impose your personal opinions upon your fellow countrymen.
