The Korean War was named as the Forgotton War in 1953.
40 years after the war ended Canada finally acknowledged that the Veterans of the Korea War should receive A Korea War Service Medal. This took 40 years of lobby work on the Veterans behalf.
The Government of Canada has proclaimed the year of 2013 as the Year of the Korea War Veterans.
We are now asking the Governemt of Canada the privilage of wearing the Republic of Korea War Service Medal along with our Canadian Medal. We requested this privilage 12 years ago and they turned us down, so once again before all the remaining Korea Veternas have passed away, we ask the Government & Department of National Defence to re-consider their refusal and let these remaining Veterans wear with pride the Medal bestoed upon them from the Government of Korea.
The following countries have approved this Medal---United Kingdom, Austraila, New Zealand, United States of America, then why not us.
We are a country governed by the Queen and England Korea Veterans wears the medal,again why not us.
The time is right for a Korea Veterans to stand up and ask for the right to wear this Medal and we a citizens of Canada, family & friends need to stand beside them and challenge and request our government re-think their decision of 12 years ago.
When the last Korea Veteran dies, the lights will to out on this cause.Let us stand together and Thank our Veterans for the freedom that they fought and 516 gave their lives for.
