To Honorable Mayor Gordon:
I am sending you this petition with all of these signatures regarding a recent case that was put in the Arizona Republic. It deals with 3 teenagers who were booked on an alleged Animal Cruelty Charge, which as you know is a class 6 felony charge.
I do not see the difficulty with this case as far as finding them guilty considering the arresting officer saw them driving down Arizona 51 with the cat trailing behind their car going 80 mph. This is absolutely atrocious. First off, these boys were high on marijuana which is bad enough but to go and find a cat to drag behind their car as a "fun gag" is absolutely ludicrous and criminal!! This was premeditated and they do not even have to try and put the blame on the marijuana because even though they smoked it, it will NOT cause anyone's judgment to swerve in this kind of psychotic manner and what they did is truly psychotic.
I, Mike Sexton, as well as all the undersigned, want to see and demand to see these 3 teenagers punished to the absolute fullest extent of the law as well as be made to undergo full psychiatric examination and treatment. There is absolutely NO way that anyone can justify this sort of activity or think these boys don't need psychiatric care because what they did is completely and utterly maniacal. Anyone who is willing to do this sort of murderous act will not take much longer to cause them to think they can do it to another animal or even a human being if their urge strikes.
I again Implore you Mayor Gordon to see these teenagers get the absolute maximum sentence as well as undergo full and complete psychiatric care. Such deeds as this cannot in any way, shape, or form be allowed to go with any punishment less severe than this.
