Emergency Response Protocol for Asthma or Anaphylaxis

Keep Nebraska school children safe: support "Emergency Response to Life Threatening Asthma or Systemic Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis) Protocol" mandate for all schools.
Children in Nebraska have died while in school -- from an asthma attack. This is unacceptable.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic illnesses among children and a leading cause of school absenteeism. A life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to food, insect stings or latex can happen at any time. Both of these take a significant toll on children and families.

Attack on Asthma Nebraska believes no child should die at school from an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction. We support one, consistent emergency response protocol for use in all Nebraska schools and urge the Nebraska State Board of Education to mandate its use during the 2003-2004 academic school year.

With education, training and life-saving medications, school staff can respond to emergencies and keep our children safe. Together we can keep kids out of the hospital, in school, healthy and alive.
