Protect GA youth from abusive military recruitment

In a campaign initiated by the American Friends Service Committee and the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia that has garnered national attention, the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition is calling upon all Georgians to support the passage of Georgia Senate Resolution 955, introduced by State Senator Nan Orrock, and Georgia House Resolution 1219, introduced by State Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benfield. The passage of and implementation of this legislation would put Georgia into compliance with U.S. international human rights obligations by urging the Georgia Department of Education and all school systems in Georgia to cease recruitment for military service of those under 17 years of age, obtain written parental consent prior to recruitment of 17-year-olds, and actively provide students and parents with information regarding exemption forms that would prohibit the students' schools from disclosing students' records to military recruiters.  Sign this petition to urge Georgia State Legislators, the Georgia Department of Education, and school boards in Georgia to put parents and students back in control of their education.
