A petition to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to request (1) the consideration of a posthumous 2008 Academy Award nomination for Heath Ledger, in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance as The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), directed by Christopher Nolan, or (2) a posthumous Honorary Academy Award honoring Mr. Ledger's achievements and contributions to the entertainment industry.
TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS AND MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMY OF MOTION PICTURE ARTS AND SCIENCES:
For his final role as The Joker in the motion picture entitled THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), directed by Christopher Nolan, We, the Undersigned, respectfully request that the Board of Governors and Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences consider the nomination of Heath Ledger for the 2008 Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
Should Mr. Ledger not receive a nomination for the 2008 Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, We, the Undersigned, respectfully request that Mr. Ledger be considered for a posthumous Honorary Academy Award. It would be an appropriate tribute to the artist, who deserves a formal recognition of his vast contributions to the entertainment industry.
