THIS PETITION HAS BEEN CREATED FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE DRAG STRIP AT LOWES MOTOR SPEEDWAY. THE CITY OF CONCORD AND ITS MEMBERS HAVE ABRUPTLY MODIFIED ZONING ON THE LAND WHERE IT IS TO BE BUILT BECAUSE THEY OPPOSE OF THE NOISE IT WILL BRING TO THE NEIGHBORHOODS SURROUNDING THE TRACK. THE LAND IS A MOTOR SPORTS MECA. IT WAS DESIGNED AND IS DESIGNED TO STAY THAT WAY. NEIGHBOORHOODS HAVE SINCE BUILT THEMSELVES AROUND THIS MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX AND HAVE DECIDED THE CARS ARE TOO LOUD FOR THEM WITH THE UNDERSTANDING WHEN THEY BOUGHT THE PROPERTY THEIR NEIGHBOR IS A MAJOR MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU SUPPORT THE DRAG STRIP TO BE BUILT ON LOWES MOTOR SPEEDWAY PROPERTY OWNED BY SPEEDWAY MOTORSPORTS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
I see alot of questions on here about the Zoning. This land is zoned for a motorsports complex. On Monday 10/1/07 The Concord City Counsel and the opposing members of the surrounding neighborhoods voted to modify the zoning of this land to not allow the drag strip.
Update: I sent this petition to the Mayor of Concord, Mr. Scott Padgett and received this response at 3:oo pm 10/9/07:
"Thank you for your work. I agree speedway needs to stay . This has been a great misunderstanding and I,m trying to resolve quickly"
