Free Wrongfully Convicted Edward Philip Contreras

We, the undersigned, support wrongfully convicted, factually innocent Edward Philip Contreras K58078 CSP Lancaster, CA., and believe that all charges should be dismissed due to the fact Contreras did not get a fair trial eleven years ago.  We firmly believe there is strong reasonable doubt that he committed the crime of first degree murder for which he was originally charged and convicted with a sentence of life without the possibility of parole because he is the only one who tried to stop the murder of Frederick Walker by confessed killer, Scott Taylor.  Contreras had no prior felony convictions nor did he use drugs nor did he have any gang relations.

We know for a fact that the eye witness and only other person at the scene of the crime, Lisa Garringer, was threatened by police detectives J. Jones and Greenwood, and coerced by them and manipulated by Prosecutor Joseph Payne to lie during her testimony when she could have testified to Contreras%u2019 complete innocence.

Scott Anthony Taylor offered to testify to Contreras%u2019 complete innocence, but Judge John S.  Fisher refused to hear of it.  Avrum Harris, the Alternate Public Defender came to trial unprepared and did not present evidence that could have freed Contreras or at least have raised much more than reasonable doubt to Contreras%u2019 guilt.

We hereby request that Edward Philip Contreras%u2019 case be reviewed to include witnesses who heard the key witness say she was threatened by detectives and that Edward Contreras did not kill anyone; those who heard her did not testify for fear of reprisal and retaliation by police and others. Above all, we request that Contreras be allowed all evidence, whether physical evidence or testimonial, in his favor to be presented in an evidentiary hearing or a new trial.

We ask the judge assigned in this matter to dismiss all charges because guilt could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, considering the prosecutorial misconduct and the unfair trial proceedings.  We ask that Contreras, having now unjustly served thirteen years altogether, first,  years in jail awaiting trial, and then in State Prison at Lancaster, have his sentence of life without parole overturned, and his record be expunged, and his release from prison be immediate.

Please assist us by signing the petition to exonerate Edward P. Contreras, 37 years old, overturn his sentence of life without the possibility of parole, dismiss all charges and expunge Edward P. Contreras%u2019 record.  Make your voice heard; this is your Constitutional right.

Contreras%u2019 rights have been grossly violated by his unfair trial, along with his unjust treatment by Judge John S. Fisher, Joseph Payne, and Avrum Harris, and the wrongful testimony by Lisa Garringer. Please help free this innocent young man.  Let us get him a fair trial.  Edward Philip Contreras needs a pro bono law firm to help him. See http://www.americaswrongfullyconvicted.com/
