Transparency in car buying services

"Free" car buying services aren't really free. These services, which you may see at your workplace, bank, or online, say they will save you money and cost nothing.

The truth is that they charge auto dealers $300 or $400 for each sale.  What pays for that?  You the consumer.

Sign our petition to the FTP demanding that car buying services become fully transparent and disclose these charges to consumers.
Are "free" car buying services really free?  I request that the FTC investigate how these services work and require that the transactions become transparent. Consumers should know if car buying services, like Truecar or Autobytel are being paid $300 or $400 per sale by the car dealer.
Only an informed consumer, aware of the real cost of the car buying service, can make an informed decision about using purchasing their service.  Consumers may decide they can get a better deal by not paying $300 or $400 to a "middleman" who does not disclose their fee.
