Help Strengthen Dog Fighting Laws in California!

My class is doing something called Project Citizen. Project Citizen is a year round school assignment that shows that kids can help make a difference in our community. Right now we feel that the dog fighting law in California isn't strong enough and hundreds of dogs are still in danger! Not only are dogs in danger, but it has been proven that dog fighting has led to child abuse! We need to protect not only dogs but also children! 
We feel that being a spectator in a dog fighting match should be changed to a felony instead of being just a misdemeanor. We feel that the people that are engaged in dog fighting should have their property taken away and we should raise the fines and jail time. We also believe that we should pass a new law that says if you have a bad record then you are not allowed to adopt a dog.
