Mark Begich was elected senator of Alaska only due to the fact that his opponent was being dragged through one goat rope after another being charged with crimes that he never should have been. You can look up the trial of senator Ted Stevens and find that he was convicted of 7 felony charges only to have them all dismissed due to the prosecution covering things up and bringing forth false witnesses along with bribing those witnesses who testified against senator Stevens. As soon as Begich had won the election the entire trial was dropped and now we are stuck with a man who has no idea how to run a city much less represent its people in the senate. Begich was formerly mayor of Anchorage, AK. and left that office after digging the city into a $20 million deficit signing every union contract that was put in front of him and promising millions of dollars to departments when the city didn't have the funds to come through. Begich made the situation worse by hiding this fact from the city counsel and pretending everything was fine in the budget. He flat out lied to the city counsel along with the rest of the citizens of Anchorage.
Since taking office as Senator, Begich has failed to listen to the voice of the people he is supposed to represent. The state has cried out in a loud voice at all 7 of Begich's town hall meetings demanding that he vote no on the health care reform. Begich failed to listen to the voice of his state and voted yes. During the town hall meetings he wasn't here to listen to the voice of Alaskans and bring it back to Washington DC; he was here to bring the voice of Washington DC to Alaska and only held the meetings to defend HIS stance on the issue not to listen to everybody else. Why would anybody want a health care bill to pass when there is a marriage penalty attached of $2,000 - $5,000 just for being a married couple?
Begich is a flat out liar, inexperienced, and has no place in the senate representing the great state of Alaska. Our own governor called on Begich to resign his seat after the way he cheated the election. Begich refused. Please don't let this man ruin our state for a further 4 years. We must remove him from his position of power before he helps drive this nation into the septic tanks.
