Glendale, Colorado, celebrate your natural resource, Cherry Creek by keeping it undeveloped.

Tell the City of Glendale and their possible funders, that this beautiful stretch of Cherry Creek that runs through their city should be protected from developers wanting to create an 'entertainment district' around it.This is a beautiful and peaceful place to come and see wildlife and a witness a natural riparian ecosystem in the midst of a city. It is extremely valuable, as it is a resource that is very difficult to bring back, once gone.
This strip of wild land that cradles Cherry Creek is an ecosystem in itself, surrounded by highways, parking lots, super stores, high rises, and human designed landscapes. It provides habitat to many animals and is an island of nature where traveling species stop to refuel. It could be a link to allow animals to travel safer along the creek. It is also where humans can come and witness wildlife, natural Colorado landscape, a beautiful creek with all it's plants and animals. It should serve as an educational attraction, and be appreciated and protected. But if the plan to develop an 'entertainment district' goes forward, I am afraid it would be invasive and you would loose what biodiversity you have there now. More buildings, businesses, will necessitate construction close to the creek, will attract more traffic, more people there for entertainment, means more noise, more trash, and less environmental education, which children are lacking today.
The stretch of Cherry Creek that flows through your city is a very valuable natural resource, just as it is. It is quiet, calming, peaceful, and a reminder of what the natural area used to look like. This riparian corridor is home to many species, and is an island in the middle of the city. Why not celebrate this piece of land that somehow was saved from becoming a lawn, celebrate it's natural biodiversity. Instead of attracting visitors with the lure of businesses and restaurants, which every municipality has, why not attract them with your environmental education programs?Creating an 'entertainment district along the creek will drive away the wildlife, and will be invasive to the creek's quiet charm. You have an amazing natural resource in this creek left natural. It can provide educational opportunities, as well as be a resource for your citizens' mental health. Please create your entertainment district in a vacant parking lot.Thank you for taking the time to read this letter!
