Cihat Haciveliogullari (known to his friends as Alex) was brought to the UK against his will when he was a young boy. He was forced to work and beaten if he resisted.
After some years Alex managed to escape, found work and settled in Whitchurch. It was here that he met his fiancee Julie, with whom he has been living for 3 years. Alex's new employers helped him to claim asylum and he was granted Discretionary Leave to Remain in the UK.
After missing an appointment with UKBA last year, Alex was detained in Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre, transferred to the Pennine Holding Centre and them moved once again to Colnbrook IRC. He is now being held in Haslar IRC. He life is in Whitchurch, with his fiancee, where he volunteers within the community and is a liked young man.
