Saving Our School

Dear Fellow Brentonians, Friends and Supporters,

As you may know, our Alma Mater has been going through a lot of changes and 'development'.  This involves tearing down many of the precious buildings that were landmarks of our youth and our school's history.  The porches we used to sit on where we used to gather on sunny mornings and starlit nights.  Walkways and rooms where we did most of our growing up which bonded us like family.  In addition, the trees that watched us grow, which shaded us from the harsh elements and whose sights and smells are embedded in our minds are being cut down, forever changing the landscape of our memories and the place we once called home.

A few concerned students decided to start an online petition with the hope of saving what remains of the Brent we used to know.  How far this endeavor will take us and how much it can achieve, no one knows, but one thing we do know is that we can do something about it.  Maybe, if we get enough signatures we can help the Brent administration leverage against the Philippine Episcopal Church's claim that it is not financially feasible to keep our school the way it was.  Maybe, with our sheer number we can change minds and perspectives and hearts.

Heck, what have we got to lose?  Please take a minute and lets find out together, remembering that song they always made us sing...

BRENT SCHOOL SONG

Fresh as air of mountain May day,
Clear as mountain sky
Are the years of youth's bright heyday,
Flowing swiftly by.

Brent school, though our paths may sever,
We will carry thee
Deep within our hearts forever.
Whereso'er we be.

Though we leave our magic mountain,
Carefree days of school,
Still we'll drink from memory's fountain,
Cherish friendship's jewel.

Dear Brent School, thought far asunder,
We will carry thee
In our hearts where'er we wander,
Over land or sea.

Though we leave thy heights forever,
Know life's dust and strain
Yet our hearts will lift whenever
We recall again.

Thee where youths of many nations
Lived their golden hour,
Sharing work and aspirations
Time will bring to flower.
