Remove Name Search Option for Clinton County on Beacon Website

The issue at hand is the option to be able to search by name on the Beacon website for Clinton County, Iowa. There are other counties in Iowa, such as Jones County and Dubuque County that only give you the option to search by address, and you cannot search by name. Being able to search by name is a safety issue for those involved in public safety professions, such as law enforcement and corrections. We are asking that Clinton County Assessor, Jill Heims, makes the decision to change the search option on the Beacon website for Clinton County, Iowa to disable the ability to search by name.

This letter is submitted in support of the petition signed by hundreds of Clinton County constituents whom are seeking to disable the option to search by name on the Clinton County, Iowa Beacon website. Due to the recent targeted attacks on law enforcement officers private residences, we believe that it is a reasonable request to ask that you remove the option to search by name from the Clinton County Beacon website. Recently in Indiana the residences of seven officer's were targeted in one evening, in which their homes and vehicles were vandalized. These officers were targeted solely because of their profession. The option of being able to search by name on the Beacon website, is a safety concerns for public safety professionals and their families. After doing some research, I discovered that other counties in Iowa, such as Jones County and Dubuque County, only allow to search by address, and the capability to search by name is not enabled in these counties. As the position of County Assessor that was elected to hold the best interests of the public, it is our hope that you will choose to remove the ability to search by name from the Clinton County Beacon website.
