I am writing this email on behalf of the residents of the 600 block of 11th Avenue. We are currently writing a petition designed to present to the Bethlehem, PA City Council in an effort to have the Zone D Parking Permit Required Zones removed from the City so that residents are free to park in front of their own homes without having to purchase parking passes for their vehicles and/or the vehicles of people that might visit your home during the designated times the permits are required. The questions I have would be when was this specific zone created and what was the purpose for it? The residents whom pay to live in this area see no reason for this permit and even when obtained still continue to be harassed by the parking authority by tickets because of "error". The resident then must go to court to prove their proof of permit and the ticket is removed. This is not only unfair to tax paying, law abiding residents but completely unnecessary. As a resident myself I have been to court 3 times for this very incident, which every ticket has been removed and found that the error was on the BPA behalf. I had the pleasure with speaking with each judge and they too ask the question as to why this is still a permitted zone? One judge was kind enough to offer some insight as he believed the zoning was created because at one point there was a car dealership located on the corning of 11th avenue and Borad St. This is no longer the case and has not been for quite some time. Again I would very much appreciate the information requested as to the purpose and time when this zoning was created. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
