The Ministry of Labor (MoL) of Saudi Arabia recently announced the opening of recruiting operations of domestic workers from Somalia. We are urging Somali Government not to allow Somali girls/women travel to Saudia Arabia for Domestic Work. The Indonesian government and Philippines government who used to provide the bulk of the domestic works have both recently banned their citizens to seek work in Saudi Arabia. This ban was prompted by the continue Saudi citizens to abuse, rape and even murder of innocent workers. The Saudi Arabia Kingdom is at the bottom in the world when it comes to the human rights norms. In Saudi Arabia many young domestic workers are raped every year, and if they try to defend themselves they are punished or even murdered. Not a long time ago an Eritrean domestic worker was raped repeatedly by her employer and when she complained she was pushed from a window. I know Somalis are strong and may try to defend themselves, but also long as no human rights watch or a government that can defend them, these Somali girls are lured to work in Saudi Arabia they will be in an imminent danger. Please sign this petition and ask Somali leaders not to allow Somalis girls to be subjected abuse, rape and murder.
