Justice for Carl Wallace/ #FREECARLWALLACE

Carl Wallace from Port Gibson, MS is serving a 48 year prison sentence in Mississippi Department of Corrections for possession with intent to distribute as a habitual offender. Prior to sentencing he has never served any prison time. For the past four years we have been fighting for his freedom due to the violation of his constitutional rights and a biased, unjust judicial system. To further describe his situation there have been various issues with his case that have led him to being in the position of wrongful conviction. Ineffective counsel is one of the main problems of his case that happened on three different hearings starting with an appointed lawyer, a lawyer hired for appeals and later a lawyer hired for post-conviction relief. Each time each lawyer was notified of all concerns and known facts about his case but they failed to the point where he is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. He had very little time to prepare a defense being that he was served on a Saturday in June 2017 right before his court date that following Monday. He had trial the following week, the first day a recess was called around lunch the next day he was found guilty and that Wednesday he was sentenced. The arresting deputy stated that he had an anonymous tip that was never a nine-one-one call, then when court came stated that it was an informant that he had worked with before that was not present for his or her safety. In the deputies incident report he stated that it was a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation that gave him probable cause to search the vehicle but a citation was never given. Also it is a constitutional law that he has the right to face his accuser. He is serving time behind a personal vendetta and was railroaded in the process. Carl was never given a fair chance, they offered him a three-year plea that turned into a 48 year prison sentence charged as a habitual and that makes no sense.  Carl is a family man, he had a career, he was a role model to the youth, a positive influence them. To label him in such a way is disheartening and unjust. We are asking for support to help bring True Justice not just to Carl, but to many others that the judicial system has failed. Hebrews 13:3 Remember those who are in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners and those who are mistreated since you also are in the body and subject to physical suffering. #FREECARLWALLACE
