College of Charleston alumni, family and friends all look fondly upon the era of basketball coach John Kresse. From the early days of Coach Kresse going to club meetings to beg students to attend basketball games to the glory days of CofC basketball earning the reputation of giant killers, Coach Kresse was known to run his program with great care and shaping his players into respected members of our community and great ambassadors of our College.
With the expected and just departure of head coach Doug Wocjik,Now we can work to restore the integrity and respect our basketball program had in the days of John Kresse by hiring former CofC and NBA basketball star Anthony Johnson. AJ was an admired member of the CofC family during his time on the team. Over the years, he has shown maturity as a player on and off the court.
When Coach Wocjik was hired, The College opted not to choose Anthony Johnson. They can now right that mistake and make a choice that will unify our College of Charleston family and set our basketball program in a direction we can be proud of.
