Over the past few weeks, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has become embroiled in a stunning corruption scandal after ProPublica journalists discovered that a shadowy billionaire, Harlan Crow, had been paying for luxury vacations, private jet flights, and even paid to renovate Thomas' mother's house — all while Thomas was ruling on multiple cases brought before the court by groups who were ALSO funded by Harlan Crow.
It is an explosive ethical scandal that almost certainly goes much, much deeper than we know so far, but for some reason, the Senate Judiciary Committee and its chair, Dick Durbin, have been dragging their feet on taking action.
Investigate Clarence Thomas ASAP!
Sen. Durbin has released a statement calling on Chief Justice John Roberts to investigate Justice Thomas — but obviously, the Supreme Court itself cannot be trusted to adequately hold one of its own accountable. On the 10th, he announced the Senate would be holding "a hearing" into the scandal.
We need more than that! Justice Thomas is ruling on the most important cases facing our nation and is bought and paid for by a far-right-wing billionaire! He cannot be trusted to rule impartially on anything and his entire career is now in serious question. We need a full investigation and impeachment proceedings ASAP!
