Don't Let Us Be Denied Our Right to Ride on the Black College Tour!!!

For 25 years now, Topeka High School has had a tradition of taking students on a week-long tour of HBCUs and other Universities outside of Kansas.

On average, about 45 students have participated each year. The success of the Black College Tour is due to the fact academically, the HBCU has a mission: to do for students something that is not available elsewhere. These institutions provide a Black perspective on history, introduce an African background, and provide a particular approach to the academic needs of African American students including the remedial and preparatory.

In 2018 and 2019, our request to continue with this tradition and going on the HBCU Spring Break Tour has been denied. Yet other groups of students in our school can take international trips to France, Spain, and Ecuador that cost 3 to 4 times as much as the HBCU tour. We want the chance to explore colleges and historical experiences that help us to see our place in yesterday's history so that we can make tomorrow's history even better.

Please join us in demanding that "We are not denied our Right to Ride on the Black College Tour".
