Dear Mr. Gardner: Case Number: JU-10-650-CR; Case Number: JU-10-651-CR
I appreciate your taking the time to speak with several of us on the afternoon of July 19th, regarding the pending criminal charges against Mr. Jeffrey Peacock and Mr. Park Myers. These two men have been charged with several misdemeanor violations of Alaska's game laws.
On behalf of the state board of directors of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance and on behalf of the Southeast regional board of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, I urge you to prosecute these defendants to the fullest extent of the law. While it is not our main concern as an organization, whether or not the illegally taken wolf was "Romeo," it is our concern that a wolf and two bears were illegally taken in our backyard. These two defendants are not kids; they are adults who allegedly planned their illegal actions and subsequently allegedly bragged about their crimes. The state of Alaska must let the public know that such actions are not acceptable in our state; the state must, therefore, not accept a plea bargain, but must prosecute Mr. Myers and Mr. Peacock to the fullest extent of the law.
It is also my understanding that the defendants have violated the federal Lacey Act, so I urge you to make federal prosecutors aware of this and trust that they, too, will prosecute Mr. Myers and Mr. Peacock to the fullest extent of the law.
Thank you for your time and for your efforts on these important cases.
Best regards,
Tina M. Brown
