Bring Back Droopy!

Created by legendary animation pioneer Tex Avery, Droopy was one of the great cartoon characters of the 1940s and 1950s.  Between 1943 and 1958 Droopy appeared in 24 cartoon shorts, and he became one of the most popular characters in the MGM Cartoons stable.  Some of the Droopy cartoons rank among the best animated shorts made, and the short "One Droopy Knight" was nominated for an Academy Award.

Since the final Droopy short was released in 1958, Droopy has been ignored and mistreated by his owners.  A series of poorly made Droopy shots were produced in 1980, 13 episodes of a dopey Droopy detective series was produced in 1993, and there was a brief comic book series in his name.  Other than this, Droopy has been limited to a few cameo appearances and the occasional parody.

It's time for Turner Entertainment and Time Warner to bring back this great character with the respect he deserves.  In 2013 Disney reintroduced Mickey and Minnie Mouse to new generations with the short "Get a Horse!," and other classic characters like Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry have never been out of the spotlight for long.  We call on Droopy's protectors to let him out of the doghouse and reintroduce him to younger generations with a brand new Droopy short film.
