Defend Citizens Of Syria

UN Security Council Refuses to agree on defending the citizens of Syria, because of China and Russia. 13 nations agree to act, 2 disagree. While already thousands of peaceful demonstrants have been killed in the conflict and reports were made of military personal threatening and attacking children and other helpless, non-armed people, the Security Council still isn't taking measures to ensure safety in Syria, listening to 2 countries with 2 vetos.

What is the mission of the UN Security Council?

(Taken from the UN Security Council Website:)

"

Under the Charter, the functions and powers of the Security Council are:

  • to maintain international peace and security in accordance with the principles and purposes of the United Nations;
  • to investigate any dispute or situation which mightlead to international friction;
  • to recommend methods of adjusting such disputes or the terms of settlement;
  • to formulate plans for the establishment of a system to regulate armaments;
  • to determine the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression and to recommend what action should be taken;
  • to call on Members to apply economic sanctions and other measures not involving the use of force to prevent or stop aggression;
  • to take military action against an aggressor;
  • to recommend the admission of new Members;
  • to exercise the trusteeship functions of the United Nations in "strategic areas";
  • to recommend to the GeneralAssembly the appointment of the Secretary-General and, together with the Assembly, to elect the Judges of the International Court of Justice.

"WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED TO SAVE SUCCEEDING GENERATIONS FROM THE SCOURGE OF WAR, WHICH TWICE IN OUR LIFETIME HAS BROUGHT UNTOLD SORROW TO MANKIND, AND TO REAFFIRM FAITH IN FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS, IN THE DIGNITY AND WORTH OF THE HUMAN PERSON, IN THE EQUAL RIGHTS OF MEN AND WOMEN AND OF NATIONS LARGE AND SMALL, AND TO ESTABLISH CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH JUSTICE AND RESPECT FOR THE OBLIGATIONS ARISING FROM TREATIES AND OTHER SOURCES OF INTERNATIONAL LAW CAN BE MAINTAINED, AND TO PROMOTE SOCIAL PROGRESS AND BETTER STANDARDS OF LIFE IN LARGER FREEDOM, AND FOR THESE ENDS TO PRACTICE TOLERANCE AND LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE WITH ONE ANOTHER AS GOOD NEIGHBOURS, AND TO UNITE OUR STRENGHT TO MAINTAIN INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND SECURITY, AND TO ENSURE, BY THE ACCEPTANCE OF PRINCIPLES AND THE INSTITUTION OF METHODS, THAT ARMED FORCE SHALL NOT BE USED, SAVE IN THE COMMON INTEREST, AND TO EMPLOY INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ADVANCEMENT OF ALL PEOPLES, HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS."

Those are big words, yet we see nothing of that when looking at the conflict in Syria. Why not? Just because they cannot agree ...! Most of them want to!

It's time to agree ... with or without all nations included ... vetos are no excuse for murders ...

Please urge the UN Security Council to decide supporting the citizens of Syria and end this senseless killing as soon as possible ... and not when it's already to late.

Sign this petition to show the UN your support, it will be shared with the UN on Twitter. The more people we got, the more support they got. Support them!

We the undersigned urge you to ensure the safety and rights of the citizens of Syria by acting now! Please don't wait until it's too late. Freedom, safety, human rights, peace - all that is what you, the United Nations Security Council, stand for. Please don't forget the citizens of Syria! Act now, don't let those people alone, they need help there. Stand up for peace and fulfill your mission of providing security for the helpless and threatened.
We can't let people suffer and die while we have the abilities to help. There may be obstacles in the way, but this is never a reason to give up, but rather a reason to try harder. Can we surely say that any child or family is safe in Syria right now? Possibly not. Can we leave them alone? Possibly not ... because we stand up for peace and human rights and we want to live in peace together and not in chaos and war. We can't let war just happen. And this is a war. If we want to act, then this is the time. Please push to a decision finally to end it. We know most of you want to. And we will support your step!
