If you are serious about finding a solution for UTRGV tuition raise, read this. If not, don't waste your time.
UTRGV tuition has raised significantly in regards to UTPA and UTB tuition. This has caught many of us off guard. This means some of us will have to pay anything between $300 and $800 dollars more than with UTPA/UTB tuition. For many students, this means dropping classes, degrees, and for some students (i.e. international students) this means going back home.
So what do we want? A breather. Tuition charges appeared for most of us a month or less before tuition was due. The simple solution is to ask for a tuition waiver or guarantee. But it's deeper than that.
I will try to set up a meeting with the proper authorities soon, but I need real cases. even if it's a short two-liner. I need facts and testimonials. So help me gather those from around.
Here's what we can do. Forward this email to as many people as you can. I've opened a Twitter account were we can also support, it's @UTRGVtuition. The most important things though are the survey and the online petition signing. Links are below:

I'll keep y'all informed. I can't promise you a solution that pleases us all, but at least we need to try. Dr. Guy Bailey seems accessible and wise. And if "thirst for knowledge" and "students are first" are in his vocabulary, I think we can come to an agreement as an educational community and make this an enjoyable experience for all.
