To Members of Congres:
We the undersigned join with small business owners around the nation in urging you to pass the federal Online Sales Simplicity and Small Business Relief Act of 2018 (H.R. 6824).
We have built our small, family-owned and operated, online businesses and these business support many families all over this nation. Our businesses will be greatly burdened by the compliance costs if we must register, collect, and remit taxes to numerous jurisdictions and states all over the nation.
The accounting costs alone for complying to even a handful of states may be more than the profit some of our businesses even receive in a year.
We call on Congress to pass the $10 million exemption until Congress is able to pass a bill to simplify sales tax collection so that it would be possible to comply without ruining small businesses.
We also support the ban on state transaction threshold limits. Small businesses like ours may reach 200 transactions with a total revenue of $600.
We call on Congress to act quickly to shield small online business owners from the real danger of closing due to sales tax compliance costs.
