Jeff Bezos' Housekeepers Got UTIs from Lack of Bathroom Access

One of Jeff Bezos' former housekeepers is suing him for "unsafe and unhealthy work conditions." It was apparently so bad that housekeepers developed urinary tract infections because they "had to spend large parts of their day unable to use the toilet." This story is eerily similar to the grueling work conditions Amazon workers have reported over the years. The common denominator here is Bezos – it's clear that he creates unhealthy work environments and his employees are suffering because of it.

The lawsuit against Bezos alleges that employees were forced to work up to 14-hour shifts without breaks, and there was "no reasonably accessible bathroom for the housekeepers." The former employee says that while working at Bezos' Seattle mansion, housekeepers had to climb out of a window to use a toilet.

The lawsuit also alleges that managers in the mansion were "respectful and polite" to white members of staff but treated the Hispanic cleaning staff poorly.

This story echoes ones that workers at Amazon warehouses across the country have been telling us. "They have too few bathroom breaks, which are all timed, excessive productivity goals and an unsafe working environment."

Bezos is actively threatening the health of his workers. Sign the petition to demand Bezos be investigated for violating Seattle's Domestic Workers Bill of Rights!
