We the undersigned concerned beneficiaries of Bethune-Cookman University express our deep concern for the ongoing saga at the university. It appears the same members of our existing Board of Trustees "keep" interfering with the day-to-day operations of the university which is a SACS violation. The inherent personal vendetta between Chair Michelle Carter and Interm President Hubert Grimes is quickly eroding the fabric of our institution which continues to perpetuate a negative trajectory.
To save our university is the prime reason of this petition. Yes, the members of the Board of Trustees have not acknowledged their lack of fiduciary responsibility of the university's finances during Dr. Edison Jackson's tenure. To this day, although some members have resigned, the remaining members have not proposed a strategic plan or blueprint of resolving the situation we now face as a HBCU in Daytona Beach. I want to express my vote of confidence for Hubert Grimes, Esquire as Interm President and want our Board of Trustees to allow him to perform his duties as president.
